In pairs, one student leads while the other mirrors their movements as closely as possible. Then swap. This works well as a calm, focused start to practical work.
03One-Word Story

Students build a story one word at a time around the circle. This is simple to set up and helps students listen carefully and contribute without pressure.
04Freeze Frames

Call out a theme, situation or emotion and ask small groups to create a still image. This works well as a warm up before script work, devising or discussion.
05Pass the Clap

Students stand in a circle and pass a clap around as cleanly and quickly as possible. Add reverses, eye contact rules or rhythm changes to increase challenge.
06Emotion Walks
Best for: KS3, character work, rehearsal

Students walk around the space and adjust posture, pace and gesture in response to emotions called out by the teacher. This is useful before characterisation tasks.
